Tell me about cable service.

Westlake provides bulk cable service to residents through Comcast. The service that Westlake subscribes to is called Expanded Basic Service. Sometime in November 2009 Comcast will be switching the majority of their channels in the Expanded Basic Service to Digital service. To use the Digital Expanded Basic Service, residents will need a cable box from Comcast. The box is free and a new account must be created with Comcast to receive the box if you do not have one already. There is no charge to establish an account. The box can be ordered by calling Comcast Bulk Services at 301-920-9951 or by visiting a Comcast office such as the one on 50 West Gude Drive in Rockville. Be sure to bring your ID proving that you live at Westlake. You may wish to call Comcast anyway to make sure that you have the right information with you so that your trip to the Comcast office is not wasted. Lines at Comcast offices can be long. Currently Comcast is providing free of charge a Digital cable box and up to two Digital adapters per account. The Digital cable box allows users, should they wish to pay an extra charge, to order additional channels, on-demand videos, and more. The Digital adapter allows users to receive Expanded Basic Service channels. The Digital Cable Box and Digital adapter should work with all televisions according to Comcast, whether they are digital or analog.

How do I sell my parking space?

Unit owners may sell their leasehold to their garage parking space to another condominium unit owner, and must complete and return to the on-site office the Parking Space Lease Assignment form.  The form is in PDF.  No other document is required.

What can I recycle in the trash room recycling bins?

Newspapers, newspaper inserts, phone books, paper back books, and clean paper can be recycled in the paper trash containers.  No paper that was used with food can be used.

NO plastic containers other than clean containers of #1 and #2 plastic, steel cans, glass, or aluminum containers should be placed in the commingling recycling bin with NO bag. Recycling material MUST be clean before putting it in the commingling bin to keep the trash rooms vermin free.

High Speed Internet

You can obtain High Speed Internet access through Comcast, Verizon, and other companies.  To find additional High Speed Internet providers you can use a website like www.broadbandreports.com; you can check the local newspaper advertisements, use the phonebook, or ask your neighbors who they use.

Telephone Service

Verizon and Comcast provide landline phone service to the building.  Cell phone service is available by all major cell phone carriers.  Residents may wish to consider VOIP phone service that runs over a High Speed Internet connection such as Lingo or Vonage.
